Recreation & Fitness Classes
There is truly something for everyone at the Ladera Rec! We offer music and movement classes for kids, fitness and strength training classes, Yoga, and Quigong. These classes are year-round and are available to all!
YOUTH CLASSES
TODDLER AND PRESCHOOL MUSIC & MOVEMENT CLASS
Registrations are now being taken for the Fall Session of Toddlers and Preschool Music/ Movement. Classes are held Wednesday mornings at Ladera Recreation Center, 150 Andeta Way, Portola Valley-(near I280 and Alpine Rd). Membership to LRD is not necessary. The classes will begin September 8 and continue through December 15 - No classes on November 24. The fee for 14 classes is $165. The age breakdown is somewhat conditional and flexible pending registrations. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The classes include age appropriate activities and materials to foster the child's natural creativity, and enhance enjoyment of music in a relaxed, positive environment. There is a balance of movement/dances, hands on materials (rhythm instruments, scarves, puppets, etc), songs, finger games, chants/rhymes/poems, incorporating music of various styles, periods and cultures. The material is usually thematic and introduces basic musical concepts, and encourages listening skills and development of the whole child.
All classes are developed and led by Janet Coberly, a former music teacher in public and private schools for 20 years, at Ladera Rec for 10 years, at schools in Redwood City for 12 years and at Ladera Preschool for 5 years.

ADULT PROGRAMS
EARLY MORNING STRENGTH TRAINING WITH DI GOW
Classes include stretching, weight training, and abdominal strengthening. Please bring your own weights (2.5 lbs. are recommended), mat, and water to class.

AM AEROBICS WITH BETTY JOHNSON
Betty Johnson has been teaching Jacki Sorenson's aerobic program for over 16 years. The program consists of warm-up, floor-work, working with weights, and well-choreographed aerobic routines, followed by a cool-down. The benefits are mental as well as physical.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 am - 9:15 am.

PM AEROBICS WITH MAUREEN DOIDGE
Maureen also teaches Jacki Sorenson's aerobic program and she has been teaching for 26 years. All moves can be performed at your own level of fitness.

Leslie Sims is now offering yoga and quigong classes at Ladera. The schedule is as follows:
Monday 6:00 am - 6:30 am - Taoist Chi Kung 6:30 am - 6:45 am - 5 Tibetans
Wednesday 6:00 am - 6:45 am - Yoga 2 - includes backbends, head and shoulder stands
Friday 6:00 am - 6:45 am - Taoist Chi King/or Yoga 6:30 am - 6:45 am - 5 Tibetans
Saturday 7:45 am - 8:15 am - Taoist Chi Kung 1 8:15 am - 8:45 am - Buddhist Yoga or 18 Buddha Hands Quigong (excellent for beginners) 8:45 am - 9:00 am - 5 Tibetans 9:00 am - 9:30 am - Yoga
Fees $105 1 class a week for 2 months $150 2 classes a week for 2 months $180 3 classes a week for 2 months $25 drop in (included for 2 months if continued) $130 for Saturday classes only
